About Charlotenburg
Charlotenburg is a remarkable village located in Timiș County, western Romania, about 45 km northwest of Timișoara. Founded in 1771 by Swabian colonists, it is the only circular village in Romania and a rare example of planned rural architecture in Eastern Europe.
The village was designed with houses arranged in a perfect circle around a central square, originally for defensive and community purposes. Today, Charlotenburg is a protected architectural site, known for its tranquil rural atmosphere, sunflower fields, and unique layout.
